Starling Studio is tucked away in the heart of Fiveways, offering a welcoming space for creativity, making and connection. Run by Jo Corney of Lume Lighting, the studio hosts inspiring workshops and courses where people can explore new skills, experiment with materials and enjoy the pleasure of creating. Whether you’re an experienced maker or curious to try something new, Starling Studio is a place to relax, learn and let your creativity flow.

This May we are delighted to open our doors for Brighton Artists Open Houses, transforming the studio into an exhibition space. Jo will showcase her handmade lampshades alongside work from ten talented local artists and makers.

The walls feature joyful paintings by Hello Marine, expressive abstract landscapes by Daizi-May, richly layered abstract works by Caroline Martin and folk art textiles by Peruvian Arpilleras. Visitors can also discover intricate lino cut prints by MegaLilyDesign and enchanting moss creations by Moss Folk.

Jewellery lovers will find colourful acrylic pieces by Laura Danby and elegant silver jewellery by Lulu McQueen. Pinki Jones showcases geometric and illustrative clothing and gifts, while Martha Mitchell Design offers beautifully detailed illustrated homeware. Completing the collection, Kemptown Provisions shares their small-batch handcrafted soaps.

Two of our exhibiting makers will be hosting special drop-in workshops.

Join printmaker Alexandra Owen of MegaLilyDesign on Saturday 9th May, and print your own tiny wren linocut using beautiful inks and Japanese paper. Your finished print will be carefully dried and posted out to you once ready.

On Sunday 24th May, come and create your own miniature “pocket forest” with Moss Folk, using natural moss and simple materials. A relaxing, creative activity and a lovely little piece of greenery to take home.
